Dryer begins to open a slight gap on O'Neill.
Deena Kastor, leading the race, with one lap to go.
Kastor ended up winning the race by more than 200 meters.
Melissa White of the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project was running in her first Olympic Trials.
White finished 16th in 34:18.07.

Dryer, 32, didn't run her first 10,000 until May of 2003, but it was a great...
...success as she ran 31:26.88 in her track 10,000 debut.

Kastor easily won the race in 31:09.65. Her time was an...
...Olympic Trials and USA Championship record.
She held the previous standards of 31:51.05 (Trials)...
...and 31:28.07 (USA Championship). Kastor showed that she'd be ready for the Athens marathon.

Elva Dryer finished second in 31:58.14 and qualified for her second Olympic team.

Kate O'Neill easily held on to third place (32:07.25) and qualified for her first Olympic team...

Katie McGregor finished fourth in 32:33.87 and if she could run under 31:45.00 by August 9th, she would be on the team as well.
Melissa Gulli finished sixth in 33:03.03.
Alicia Craig finished fifth in 32:47.86, and would also have a chance to chase the standard before August 9th. After a long season, she opted not to, though.
