Jennifer Kramer finished
Marla Runyan picked up the pace on the last lap and won in 15:36.75, the fastest time of the day.
Molly Huddle finished fifth in 15:47.15 and advanced with room to spare.
Shalane Flanagan, who recently announced her decision to turn pro, advanced easily (2nd, 15:37.42).
The final is expected to be a tight battle among Runyan (above), Flanagan, Amy Rudolph, Carrie Tollefson, and Shayne Culpepper.
Tollefson finished third in 15:38.64 to advance.
Amy Yoder Begley finished sixth in 15:52.34 and advanced.
Jennifer Kramer finished eighth in 16:39.89 and did not advance.
Jen Rhines, who has already made the Olympic team in the marathon, took the pace out in the...
...second 5,000m semifinal. Rhines is competing here "for fun" and will run the marathon in Athens.

Rhines leads Amy Rudolph, Kara Goucher, Culpepper, and the rest of the field.
Rudolph takes a turn in the lead and picks up the pace. Culpepper check where the rest of the competitors are.
Kara Goucher leads Newberry, Bei, and Gulli.
Kristen Nicolini of Team USA Minnesota trails the field slightly.
Rudolph leads Rhines.
Kathy Newberry leads the main pack...
