Jamie
Krzyminski finished third in the 10,000 at the previous month's
NCAA Championships.

Katherine

Because
Deena Kastor had already made it clear that she would not run this
event in Athens...
...spots
2-4 here were the critical ones for Olympic qualifying purposes.
However, only O'Neill...
...and
Dryer had the qualifying time necessary to run in Athens. Because
the pace wasn't fast enough here...
...whoever
finished fourth would have to chase the "A" standard of
31:45.00 to make the team.
After
slipping back in the race, Sylvia Mosqueda walked off the track
and dropped out.
The
field featured a handful of young runners who were gaining valuable
Trials experience here.
Kastor
continues to run her own race up front.
Kathy
Newberry.
Kate
O'Neill runs in second place and Elva Dryer in third.
Deena
Kastor laps runners who would finish in the top 10.
