NAU's Ida Nilsson runs in third place.
Alicia Craig, the runner-up in the 5,000, runs in the pack.
Kim Smith went through the 400 in 1:06 before settling into a more sustainable pace.
Smith hit the 800 in 2:17 and the 1K in 2:53.
Mannova continues to lead the main pack.
Molly Huddle runs in about fifth place.
Florida State's Vicky Gill, who finished fourth in the 5,000.
Smith went through the 1,600 in 4:41, and the record chase was still on.
Mannova continued to do the work at the front of the chase pack.
Treniere Clement hung back as she doubled back from her third place finish in the mile earlier that evening.
Smith went through 2K in 5:52, giving her a split of 2:59 for the second kilometer.
She would just need a 3:01 final kilometer to break the collegiate record.

Kassi Andersen of BYU, another one of the great steeplechasers in the field.
