Brooke Novak of Tennessee takes the lead just over one lap into the Distance Medley Relay.
L-R: Megan Kaltenbach, Katie Erdman, and Rebecca Mitchell lead off for their teams.
Reigning NCAA steeplechase champion Kassi Andersen leads off for BYU.
Just past the 400 meter mark, Novak continues to lead, with Erdman, Kaltenbach, and Beth Heimann (KY) close behind.
Novak continued to lead at 600 meters, with Erdman on her shoulder and Villanova's Mitchell moving up on the outside.
With three laps to go, the pack was still tightly bunched.
Villanova's Mitchell and UNC's Kaltenbach run near the front.
With two laps to go, Rebecca Mitchell had moved into the lead.
Brooke Novak ran in second place and Katie Erdman in third.
Sabine Knothe leads off for Georgetown and Kassi Andersen for BYU.
With one lap to go, Erdman had taken over the lead.
Jennifer Davis led off for West Virginia.
Dee Dee Trotter ran the 400m leg for Tennessee.
Tierra Fletcher runs for Villanova and Jackie Gordon for Kentucky.
Pam Richardson runs the 400m leg for West Virginia.
Monica Hargrove runs for Georgetown.
Nicole Cook, who would run the 800m leg for Tennessee, got the baton in first place.
Michigan's Theresa Feldkamp got the baton in second place.
Cook, one of the best 800m runners in the NCAA, extended Tennessee's lead immediately.
Chinny Offor (with Michigan's Feldkamp) ran the 800m leg for Stanford.
