Akron junior Beata Rudzinska went to the lead early on.

Rudzinska, a native of Poland, had the fastest qualifying time coming in.
Auburn's Caitlin Reese (left) and Utah's Nellie Hammons.
Wake Forest's Green missed advancing to the final one year ago after falling in the prelim.
Rudzinska controlled the race from wire to wire.
Green ran close behind with one lap to go.
The second heat was significantly slower than the first, so place was important.

Beth Heimann grabbed the other automatic...
...qualifying spot by finishing second in 2:06.69.
Kamille Bratton (3rd, 2:07.00) was the only time qualifier...
...from the second prelim. For the second year in a row, Nikeya Green...
...missed out on the final. She finished fourth in 2:07.25, missing out by .13.
Caitlin Reese (5th, 2:07.27) also missed advancing by a small margin.
