Neisha Bernard-Thomas won the third 800m prelim in 2:04.21.	Nikeya Green (2nd, 2:05.36) and Carlene Robinson (3rd, 2:06.30)...	...also advanced.	Green.	Robinson.
Nellie Hammons (7th, 2:10.09).	Nicole Cook, the 2004 NCAA Indoor 800m champion, gets ready for the fourth prelim.	Texas sophomore Evelyn Dwyer.	Missouri sophomore Ashley Patten.	Auburn junior Kareen Gayle.
Cook was one of the favorites heading into the meet...	...after winning the indoor title.	Two-time defending champion Alice Schmidt.	L-R: Schmidt, Ashley Freeman, Cook, and Gayle.	Schmidt makes a move for the lead around the 800m mark.
She later said, "You wouldn't know from my time, but I was trying to run fast."	R-L: Cook, Gayle, Freeman, and UTEP's Fatimoh Muhammed.	Texas' Dwyer and Missouri's Patten trail the pack.	Patten and Dwyer both ended up as DNFs.	Schmidt won the third prelim in 2:06.03. Because of the slow early pace, she was the only runner to advance.
