With one lap to go, #174 Zulia Calatayud and #756 Letitia Vriesde lead, with #500 Macharia and #562 Maria Mutola on the outside. Mutola, the reigning Olympic Champion, has to be considered the favorite heading into the final. After threatening to boycott the 5,000m race if Olga Yegorova was allowed to compete (having tested positive for EPO), Gabriela Szabo (center) opted to remain in the race.

In the 200m final, Marion Jones leads, with #828 LaTasha Jenkins and #152 Myrian Leonie Mani on her left and silver medallist Debbie Ferguson (#41) and bronze medallist Kelli White (#855) on her right.
After being edged out in the 100m final, Marion Jones looked extremely relieved to take this one in 22.39. She blows a kiss to the crowd here. Marion takes a victory lap with about 20 photographers in tow.
