Toledo's Briana Shook, still in the lead, but her lead is visibly shrinking.
Northern Arizona's Ida Nilsson and UNC's Carol Henry.
Nilsson and Henry work to reel Shook in.
JMU's Mollie Defrancesco and BYU's Michaela Manova run in fourth and fifth.
The hot and humid Baton Rouge weather (understandably) seemed to bother the steeplers less than the other distance runners.
Only in its second year, the steeple has really taken off in the NCAA. This year, all the qualifiers ran 10:22 or faster.
Henry and Nilsson overtake Shook, the top five run close together.
Manova (right) moves up with the leaders.
NC State's Katie Sabino.
NC State's Megan Coombs and Michigan State's Ann Somerville.
Nilsson, Henry and Manova run 1-2-3.
Roisin McGettigan and Coombs.
Lisa Aguilera and Coombs.
Stanford's Laura Turner.
Nilsson takes solo posession of the lead, but Manova covers her move.
