Heather Sagan made up a lot of ground on the last lap to finish second in 4:14.71.
Shalane Flanagan ran in first for most of the race but wound up third in 4:15.52.
Amy Mortimer finished fourth in 4:16.48.

Nilsson, looking thrilled, jumped up and down on the awards podium.
This was Nilsson's first individual NCAA title, she was part of a winning DMR during the indoor season.

Just as she did in her preliminary heat, Shook immediately jumps out into the lead.
Nilsson and McGettigan lead the rest of the pack.
UNC freshman has only run the steeplechase a few times, but it's clear that she's found her calling.
Shook leads off the first water barrier.
Nilsson and Henry run in second and third.
Nilsson, a sophomore, ran for Arkansas-Little Rock last year before transfering to Northern Arizona this year.
