Maureen McCandless would finish 14th in 16:54.38.
With just over three laps to go, Shalane Flanagan leads Lauren Fleshman and Sara Gorton.
Molly Huddle leads Mary Cullen and Sara Bei.
Bei was starting to look vulnerable, letting Huddle and Cullen go a little bit.
With two laps to go, it's still Flanagan, Fleshman and Gorton.
Huddle and Cullen continue to run 4-5.
Bei had dropped back significantly but was still in sixth place with two laps to go.
Renee Gunning runs in 13th place with two laps to go. She would finish 11th in 16:36.55.
With one lap to go, Flanagan and Fleshman have dropped Gorton.
It's down to a 400 meter sprint. In the past, Flanagan was usually able to outsprint...
...Fleshman at the end of a race.
With less than 400m to go, Flanagan led by a step.
Molly Huddle and Mary Cullen continue to run 4-5.
Kristen Andrews of Dartmouth with two just over laps to go.
Sharon Dickie (8th, 16:23.15) leads Katie Appenrodt (7th, 16:22.17) and Anna Blue (6th, 16:21.92).
Fleshman used a big kick as she approached the Stanford crowd on the backstretch...
...to blow Flanagan away and win her third-straight 5,000m title in 15:24.06.
Flanagan looked disappointed with her runner-up finish, but her 15:30.60 was a personal best.
Fleshman's winning 15:24.06 broke Amy Skieresz's 1998 meet record of 15:37.77.
Gorton held on to third place, finishing in 15:40.13.
Gorton set her personal best earlier in the season, running 15:24.97 at Mt. SAC.
Huddle, a freshman, finished 4th in 15:55.96, just ahead of Mary Cullen (15:58.47).
Flanagan's time also broke the meet record.
