MEN'S PHOTOS

Not surprisingly, Tiffany McWilliams jumped straight into the lead at the start of the 1,500m final.
After so many runners set personal bests and school records in the semi-finals...
...big things were expected for the final.
Following McWilliams, R-L: Christin Wurth, Lena Nilsson, Courtney Inman, Malindi Elmore and the rest of the field.
R-L: L. Nilsson, Inman, Elmore, Bethany Brewster, Treniere Clement and Johanna Nilsson.
Brewster leads Clement, Jamie Cottle, J. Nilsson and Amy Mortimer.
McWilliams passed through 400m in 64.2 and 800 in 2:11.
It was clear that McWilliams was on a fast pace by how much distance L. Nilsson was giving her.
L. Nilsson had run 4:07 earlier in the season and was generally regarded to have a better kick than McWilliams.
R-L: Inman, Elmore, Mortimer and Muncan.
R-L: Clement, Brewster, Muncan and Cottle.
Wisconsin's Brewster leads BYU's Cottle and West Virginia's Megan Metcalfe.
Approaching 400 meters to go, L. Nilsson and J. Nilsson (no relation) move up...
...to put themselves within striking range of Tiffany McWilliams.
With one lap to go, the clock read 3:00 and the question would be if L. Nilsson could catch McWilliams.
J. Nilsson ran in third place with one lap to go...
...with Elmore and Wurth leading the rest of the field.
R-L: Elmore, Wurth, Inman, Mortimer and Muncan.
R-L: Mortimer, Muncan, Brewster (with Cottle behind) and Metcalfe.
L. Nilsson mounted a big challenge with about 250 meters to go...
