Not
surprisingly, Tiffany McWilliams jumped straight into the lead at
the start of the 1,500m final.
|
After
so many runners set personal bests and school records in the semi-finals...
|
...big
things were expected for the final.

|
McWilliams
passed through 400m in 64.2 and 800 in 2:11.
|
It
was clear that McWilliams was on a fast pace by how much distance
L. Nilsson was giving her.
|
L.
Nilsson had run 4:07 earlier in the season and was generally regarded
to have a better kick than McWilliams.

Brewster leads BYU's Cottle and West Virginia's Megan Metcalfe.

Approaching
400 meters to go, L. Nilsson and J. Nilsson (no relation) move up...
|
...to
put themselves within striking range of Tiffany McWilliams.
|
With
one lap to go, the clock read 3:00 and the question would be if
L. Nilsson could catch McWilliams.
