1.
As in almost all her races, Lilli Kleinmann jumps out
to the early lead in the first-ever women's NCAA steeplechase
final.
2. Courtney Meldrum, part of the BYU contingent that
has been practicing the steeple for years, goes over
the water barrier for the first time.
3. Kleinmann (r) and Kerry Hils lead the way, Rebecca
Bennion, Kelly MacDonald and Ida Nilsson follow.
4. L-R: Bennion, Marget Larson, Laura Turner, MacDonald,
Elizabeth Jackson, Hils, Katie Sabino, Nilsson, Kleinmann
and Andrea Kremer.

5. American Record holder Jackson started out in the
back for the first several laps but quickly realized
that she much prefers the front.
6. & 7. Jackson had set a pending AR of 9:55 several
weeks earlier and also held the ratified record of 9:57.20.
8. NC State's Sabino (8th, 10:05.38).
9. MacDonald and Jackson lead.
10. Bennion and Jackson lead.
11. MacDonald and Nilsson.
