Tirunesh Dibaba wins the 5,000 (15:13.78), Marla Runyan is second (15:13.96), Cheri Kenah third (15:14.69), Carrie Tollefson fifth (15:32.18), Amy Rudolph sixth (15:35.52), Jen Rhines seventh (15:37.29) and Katie McGregor eighth (15:37.71).
Big 12 Championships (Columbia, MO) Meet gets delayed due to rain on day one. Debbie Thornhill wins the 10,000 (35:06.21) and her Baylor teammate, Kara Newton finishes second (35:15.51). Amy Mortimer wins the 1,500 (4:19.26) and Katy Eisenmenger takes second (4:20.34). Lesley Higgins of Colorado wins the steeplechase (10:26.16) and her CU teammate Sara Gorton wins the 5,000 (16:11.83) over a stacked field. Ann Marie Brooks is second (16:20.40), indoor NCAA 5,000 champion Siri Alfheim is third (16:22.97), Jodie Hughes is fourth (16:45.91) and Molly Austin fifth (16:49.89). Pac Ten Championships: Day One | Day Two (Pullman, WA) Day One: Erin Sullivan wins the 10,000 (35:44.19) with her Stanford teammate Caroline Annis second (36:01.74). Lisa Aguilera wins the steeplechase (10:15.71). Day Two: Lena Nilsson wins the 800 (2:03.88) and the 1,500 (4:20.81). Tiffany Burgess finishes a close second (2:03.91) in the 800. Lauren Fleshman wins the 5,000 (16:47.24) and finishes second in the 1,500 (4:21.68).
Big Ten Championships (Madison, WI) Ann Stechschulte of Purdue wins the 10,000 (34:01.58) over Michigan State freshman Jamie Krzyminski (34:05.20). Ann Somerville of Michigan State wins the steeplechase (10:14.64). Bethany Brewster of Wisconsin wins the 1,500 by nearly four seconds (4:16.86) over Katie Jazwinski of Michigan (4:20.53). Rachel Sturtz leads a 1-2-3 sweep by Michigan in the 800 with her 2:07.45 win. Katie Jazwinski wins the 5,000 (16:32.60) with 10k winner Stechschulte second (16:35.80), Michelle Carson of Michigan State third (16:38.22), 10k runner-up Krzyminski fourth (16:38.25) and 1,500 winner Brewster fifth (16:42.57).
IC4A/ECAC Championships (Princeton, NJ) Mollie Defrancesco of James Madison wins the steeplechase with the first NCAA automatic qualifier of the season (that we're aware of) - 9:58.77. Roisin McGettigan of Providence College finishes second (10:08.73). Kathryn Ireland of Boston University wins the 5,000 (16:25.58) over Julie Culley of Rutgers (16:29.84). Jane Maxwell of Virginia wins the 10,000 (35:22.19) over Maura McMahon of William & Mary (35:37.42). Heather Sagan of Liberty wins the 1,500 (4:23.20) with Jill Laurendeau of Georgetown a close second (4:23.59). Lauren Simmons of Princeton wins the 800 (2:09.20).
Georgia Tech Last Chance Meet (Atlanta, GA) Mary Jayne Harrelson wins the 800 (2:03.57) over Tennessee's Kameisha Bennett (2:04.10). Two other NCAA athletes get automatic qualifiers: Nicole Campbell of Georgia Tech (4th, 2:04.85) and Nikeya Green of Wake Forest (5th, 2:04.96). Other notable competitors include Erin Donohue (14th, 2:09.15), Shalane Flanagan (19th, 2:10.42), Kamille Bratton (30th, 2:15.46) and Kristina Bratton (listed as a DNF). Carmen Douma wins the 1,500 (4:14.60) over Shalane Flanagan (4:15.37). Notre Dame freshman Lauren King gets an NCAA automatic qualifier in third (4:17.33). North Carolina freshman Carol Henry wins the steelechase with one of the top times in the NCAA (10:04.66). Renee Metivier wins the 3,000 (9:32.55), she is the only runner to finish, three starters were listed. Anne Bersagel wins the 5,000 (16:50.22).
MAC Championships (Ypsilanti, MI) Natasha Lothery of Ball State wins the 800 (2:08.99). Bobbie Hardbarger of Akron wins the 1,500 (4:26.96).
