Spirit of Play Poem

Spirit of Play
By Randy Ramage

The warm salt water laps my face.

A clear blue sky, such tranquil space.

A dolphin near, he wants to play.

He shakes his head, he laughs that way.

I swim out further, next to him.

Cool blue body, slippery skin.

Hang on dorsal, off we go.

The thrill of speed in such a flow.

Deep breath and dive beneath the sea.

Green water clear and deep and free.

Diving deeper with my friend.

I want this time to never end.

Let go of dorsal, down he goes.

I'll follow him, I'm sure he knows.

Swimming deeper, cold limbs stroke.

Dolphin watches my approach.

Bright lights flashing, soon to end.

I surge forward to my friend.

Swirling through the liquid breeze,

Deeper still, I dive with ease.

With my friend, we move as one.

I surge forward just for fun.

Dolphin friend must rise for air

I feel no need, I do not care.

I'll stay below, beneath the sea,

With dolphin friends to swim with me.
