Soul Mate

My soul mate cannot see me

For too much time has passed,

Yet there he is beside me

But his memory did not last.

 

I can see when we were close

No keeping us apart

In far off distant time

To him I gave my heart.

 

If only he remembered

The love that we once had,

The many joys we shared,

I would not feel so sad.

 

Perhaps it is amnesia

Some get when they depart.

To have him know me once again

Would really free my heart.
