NCAA runner-up Rebecca Bennion goes over the water barrier on her way to a win (10:14.34) in the first heat of the women's steeplechase.
Mollie DeFrancesco of James Madison advanced to the final by finishing 3rd (10:19.57) in the second heat.
Kelly MacDonald of Arizona State won heat two in 10:16.48.
Heat three - American Record holder Elizabeth Jackson leads. Others pictured include #339 Heather Gibson #352 Sarah Gray, #498 Laura Kruis, #586 Katie Sabino (winner of the heat in 10:30.01), #162 Melissa Bouren, #125 Erin Aufderheide, #529 Chris Lundy, #736 Karen Steen and #613 Kara Ormond.
Race favorite Jackson looked smooth in qualifying (3rd in heat, 10:30.24).
Collette Liss of the Indiana Invaders leads Olympic finalist Suzy Favor Hamilton in semifinal #1 of the 1,500m. She finished second in 4:24.84 to advance to the final.
With just over 100m to go, Favor Hamilton is in control of the race with Sally Glynn and Janet Trujillo right behind. Glynn just missed qualifying while Mary Jayne Harrelson and Trujillo came up for the 3rd and 4th qualifying spots.
Regina Jacobs leads Stephanie Best in semifinal two. The first four in each heat plus the next four fastest times advanced to the final.
Priscilla Hein, another Indiana Invader, sets the pace (she would finish 5th in 4:19.34 for the first time qualifier), Sarah Schwald, winner of semi #2 in 4:18.34, follows.
Heat two was by far the faster of the two with all eight runners in the heat advancing to the final. Here Shayne Culpepper (3rd, 4:18.48) leads Kim McGreevy (6th, 4:20.40).
