MEN'S PHOTOS

Mary Jayne Harrelson (4:13.97), Shayne Culpepper (4:13.98) and Shalane Flanagan (4th, 4:14.09) went 2-3-4 and advanced automatically.
Sarah Schwald (4:14.23), Jenelle Deatherage (4:14.46) and Elissa Riedy (4:14.83) went 5-6-7 and advanced on time.
Elissa Riedy grabbed the final time qualifier for the final.
Sarah Schwald, last year's third-place finisher, was a little farther back than expected but still advanced to the final.
Tiffany McWilliams leads the second heat of the 1,500m prelims.
Those who have seen McWilliams race before have grown accustomed to seeing her up front setting the pace.
One week earlier, she won her first NCAA 1,500m title and set an NCAA meet record of 4:06.
Arkansas' Christin Wurth runs in second and the rest of the field follows.

McWilliams -- who led a slew of PRs in the NCAA 1,500 prelims. -- also had a reputation for running fast in her qualifying rounds.
The rest of the field follows.
With one lap to go, McWilliams was still alone out front.
McWilliams is a sophomore at Mississippi State.

Heather Sagan leads Kara Goucher with one lap to go.
Carrie Messner leads Lindsey Gallo.
Suzy Favor Hamilton kicked past Tiffany McWilliams at the end and won in 4:12.42.
McWilliams held on to finish second (4:13.12) with Collette Liss third (4:13.47) and Amy Mortimer fourth (4:13.61).
Only one time qualifier, Heather Sagan (5th, 4:14.12) came out of this heat.
Amy Mortimer and Heather Sagan grab the last two spots in the final.
