The steeple was one of the crowd favorites.   Lilli Kleinmann of Arkansas went to the lead right away and stayed there. Providence's Roisin McGettigan followed. Renee Metivier of Georgia Tech leads a pack off the water jump.
  LSU's Susanne Strunz (5th, 10:22.63). Amy Wiseman of Arkansas (9th, 10:43.07). Kleinmann's 10:01.52 put her in striking range of BYU's Elizabeth Jackson. Jackson ran 9:59.50 a week earlier to take the NCAA and world lead.
South Florida's Rita Arndt finished 8th in 10:38.41. Idaho State's Emily Mulick was one of 19 competitiors in this meet who earned the NCAA provisional qualifier. McGettigan finished 10th in 10:45.41. NC State's Katie Sabino finished 2nd in a strong 10:20.01. Miami-Ohio's Andrea Kremer makes a splash in 6th (10:26.90).
Heat two of the steeple: Cindy Dunham and Celeste Banks run neck and neck. That's Banks of Seton Hall on the left and JMU's Dunham on the right. Amy Baxter of Navy won the second heat in 10:44.63. Dunham finished second in 10:54.56. Indiana-Pennsylvania's Sara Raschiatore (10:55.63) finished 3rd.
