Once again, citizens of Prince Albert are asked to think of the hungry children and families of Prince Albert and district. With this major drive, the Food Bank will be able to meet the needs of our hungry throughout the winter months. Over the past summer, the Food Bank’s Snack Program provided daily snacks to thousands of children as a part of the Prince Albert Playground program. Many of these children are children who may only get one meal a day because of their family’s financial status. Now, the cupboards are empty at the Food Bank. Watch for the COUNTRY 900 CKBI "WE CARE Food Drive" grocery bag. These bags will be delivered on Monday, October 14 in the Prince Albert Shopper. Please fill this bag with non-perishable food staples, canned goods, pasta, anything that has a long shelf life. Volunteers will begin picking up bags Saturday morning, October 19 starting at 10:00 am. Because of security doors on apartment buildings, these buildings will not be canvassed. Apartment dwellers are asked to call the Food Bank to arrange pick up. Call 306-763-5040, or bring it to the Food Bank, 83 River Street West. Volunteers are a major part of the "WE CARE" food drive. To ensure all areas of the city are covered, We need 60 drivers with vehicles to haul the food, plus 120 volunteers to help pick up and sort the food at the Food Bank. If you are able to volunteer a few hours, please call 306-763-5040. There will be breakfast for volunteers at the food bank, 83 River Street West, starting at 8:30am. After volunteers have completed their route, lunch will be provided. For more information, please contact Linda Fidler, Share A Meal Food Bank 306-763-5040 or Ken Landers, Promotion Coordinator, Country 900 CKBI Radio, 306-763-7421.

    "speechless", Installation by Charlie Fox
    Curated by Ulrike Veith
"A blend of natural and altered audio forms an immersive environment that enfolds gallery patrons in speechless. Human speech overwhelms our ability to listen to the rest of the world: we have become so enamoured and seduced by the sound of our own voice(s), that we are nearly unable to hear the world around us. Ironically, the alternative language to which the installation alludes is everywhere, in the sound of animals, trees, human interaction and activities. This installation conceptually relies on qualities inherent in the soundscape through the employ of original multichannel surround sound recordings. Experimental mixing techniques acquire sounds as ambient, immersive surround soundscapes that are specific to each work. Not merely a technical exercise, but truly a new creative method, this approach plunges the participant into an enveloping content, a sonic environment that can be subtle, stimulating and engaging." Charles Fox - Charles Fox is a Regina artist and university professor, who has developed an innovative technology to create multichannel surround sound. He uses this immersive technology in his installations. Since 1973 Fox has been actively involved in the development of video art and audio art as an artform in Canada, the establishment of artist run centres, and has presented numerous experimental films and multimedia installations.

"in the clearing, at the edge, in-between."
    Installation by Kathleen Houston
Opening: Fri., October 25 at 7:00pm.
    Curated by Ulrike Veith
"Installation, video, drawing and fibre sculptures, reveal a body of work where I explore questions about being and place. I think of my on-site ephemeral interventions as a way of participating in the power of a place, of being in-between worlds. I explore the symbolic presence of landscape, and identify with elemental processes in nature; tree energy, sandstone, and water. "The Clearing" is a container where the power of the sky and stars gather. Being "at the edge" is a dynamic place of both entry and exit. Identifying with the power of a thing, is an "in-between" world of imagery and energy. How these energies move through the body and connect with the world around me motives my studio process. Borrowing from processes in Celtic shamanism and Qigong, I express an internalized elemental cosmology, and awareness of the energy pathways of the body." Houston - Houston has her MFA from University of Quebec in Montreal and has resided in Prince Albert since 1999. She has an active studio practice and has contributed to many group projects in the community.
