10. Carrie Tollefson (9th, 9:09.05) of the newly-formed Team USA Minnesota and Rhines of Team USA Southern California.
11. Liss ran an aggressive race, finishing 4th in 8:55.51.
12. Michigan grad Courtney Babcock ran 9:13.06 for 10th.
13. Nicole Jefferson had an off day, finishing 13th in 9:29.42.
14. The race came down to the final lap, with Runyan (8:44.69), a Eugenian, prevailing.
15. Butler edged out Dryer for 2nd, 8:46.01 to 8:46.09.
16. Jenny Crain, more of a 10,000m/marathon specialist, ran well in 8th (9:07.86).
17. There was pre-race talk of Runyan shooting for Sonia O'Sullivan's meet record of 8:39.33, but she fell a little short after having to do much of the pacesetting by herself.
