    The Quilting Program - rebuilding people by recycling clothing Quality patchwork quilts are produced out of clothing from the AS GOOD AS NEW store. The program aims to develop self-esteem and self-confidence as clients learn job skills. In a safe and supportive atmosphere, persons coping with mental illnesses are assisted as they cross the bridge from the hospital wards to the regular work-force. Murray Wotherspoon from Addiction Services, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, will be at the Library to provide essential information about the impact of these drugs on individuals, their families, and the community. He’ll talk about the symptoms to watch for and will show the video, Ruined Lives, which documents real life situations of crystal meth usage. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.   • May 13: RUTH MILLAR AND LARRY GASPAR BOOK LAUNCH. 7:00 p.m. Meeting Room 3. Ruth Millar is the author of Saskatchewan Rogues and Heroes. This book features a dozen of Saskatchewan’s memorable characters—some good, some bad and some completely outrageous—and rescues their fascinating stories from oblivion. Princes in Waiting by Larry Gasper is a collection of twelve hard-hitting stories set in a small Northern Saskatchewan farming community. The stories explore the lives of a group of young men moving from adolescence to manhood amid financial insecurity on the farm, limited employment opportunities, and troubled family relationships. COTEAU BOOKS is co-hosting this event. Everyone is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served.

    Lynne Harley enjoys working in watercolors and recently began creating glass mosaic works of art. Her work is inspired by the beauty of nature found in central and northern Saskatchewan. She shows and sells much of her work in the Prince Albert area. Lynne is currently the president of the Kyla Art group and has been a member since 1986. She is also a member of the local Echelon art group.

    This exhibition is a tribute to the courage of the Polish people in the face of a history of invasions. It also focuses heavily on the horrors that occurred at Auschwitz. Pat Grayston, B.A., B.Ed., B.FA., is a retired high school teacher. In 2002, she re-established contacts with her father’s relations in Poland after a fifty-year break in communication. Her work is a reflection of her visit to Poland.
