The program aims to develop self-esteem and self-confidence as clients learn job skills. In a safe and supportive atmosphere, persons coping with mental illnesses are assisted as they cross the bridge from the hospital wards to the regular work-force. Religions are central to many societies' self-definition. At the same time, they are the base or the excuse of many political conflicts that kill millions of people. Religion can be used as a means of oppression in many cultures, particularly against women and minorities. This exhibition will explore artists' views of these personal and societal belief systems, through critical or poetic reflection, questioning and possibly affirming values.
