Alicia Craig emerged as the leader for the Stanford team.
The sophomore finished third in 19:48.0.
Her senior teammate Lauren Fleshman finished right behind in 19:48.3.
Stanford and BYU were well-matched in the team race so every place counted.
Michaela Manova, a junior at BYU, led her team with a fifth-place finish (19:49.5).
Notre Dame freshman Molly Huddle battled BYU's Kassi Andersen down the home stretch.
Huddle (6th, 19:55.7) was the first freshman to finish and led her team to a surprise third-place finish.
BYU's Kassi Andersen, a redshirt freshman, finished seventh in 19:56.1.
Ida Nilsson, a sophomore at Northern Arizona, finished eighth in 19:57.7.
Colorado sophomore Sara Gorton finished 10th in 20:01.4.
Megan Metcalfe (9th, 20:01.0) leads Malindi Elmore (11th, 20:01.8) and Johanna Nilsson (12th, 20:01.8).
The Nilsson family got two runners in before the O'Neills, but the O'Neills had a lower score.
Laura O'Neill (13th, 20:05.8) leads SMU's Karin Van Rooyen (14th, 20:06.3).
Pre-Nationals winner Vicky Gill of Florida State finished 15th in 20:07.4.
Arkansas senior Christin Wurth ran well to finish 16th in 20:07.5.
Lena Nilsson, the reigning NCAA 1,500m champion outdoors, finished 17th in 20:10.0.
Boston College sophomore Maria Cicero finished 18th in 20:13.7.
Notre Dame sophomore Lauren King finished 19th in 20:14.5.
BYU's Katie Martin (20th, 20:15.2) leads CU's Molly Austin (21st, 20:15.9) and Natalie Florence (22nd, 20:16.6).
