#682
Sarah Ross of Texas and #431 Jennie Sucher of North Carolina.
#192
Heidi Hullinger, #316 Alli Sauer, #180 Tenke Zoltani and #177 Lisa
Stublic.
The
course was flat and clear enough that from a high point, much of
the race was visible.
There
were many enthusiastic spectators on hand, sprinting from point
to point. It pays to be a fit cross country fan.
Briana
Shook's lead only lasted for about two kilometers, then Shalane
Flanagan and the chase pack gobbled her up.
By
the two mile mark (above) Flanagan appeared to be in control of
the race.
At
the 3k point, Flanagan led by nine seconds.
Flangan's
lead remained more or less the same throughout the race.
She
split 9:49 for the first 3k and 9:47 for the second.
Flanagan
was the only undefeated runner in the NCAA heading into the race,
making her the favorite.

The
chase pack includes (L-R) Sara Bei, Lauren Fleshman, Alicia Craig,
Kate O'Neill, Kassi Andersen and Laura O'Neill.
The
enthusiastic spectators mentioned earlier made it very challenging
to get a clear shot on many parts of the course.
Also
in the chase pack are #132 Sara Gorton, #75 Michaela Manova, Vicky
Gill (behind Fleshman) and Karin Van Rooyen (behind Craig).
Sara
Gorton and Sara Bei lead Molly Huddle and Michaela Manova.
Boston
College sophomore Maria Cicero.

Stanford's
Malindi Elmore really stepped it up here for her team. (Kristin
Price of NC State is also in there.)
Stony
Brook's Jennifer Payne leads Colorado's Natalie Florence.
Florence
runs alongside Michigan State's Michelle Carson.
L-R:
Christa Benton, Londa Bevins, Ioana Parusheva and Amanda Bales.
