And back up at the front of the race, Tara Chaplin heads into the finish area, working hard.
Chaplin led early before being caught by Shalane Flanagan in the back loop...
...Chaplin fought back (and Flanagan stopped to walk), winning in 20:24.
After finishing 85th (1998), 33rd (1999) and 45th (2000), Chaplin earned the victory on her last try.
Chaplin hails from Montpelier, VT and is a studio art major.
Renee Metivier, despite winning the South Regional by 35 seconds, was a surprise (to some) second-place finisher in 20:31.
