Runners break for the poll: (L-R) Marian Burnett, Angie Beebe, Aimee Teteris, Alice Schmidt, Bratton and Nicole Cook.
Angie Beebe finished sixth in the first (and fastest) heat; she ran 2:07.28 and did not advance.
Marian Burnett of LSU won with the fastest time of the day (2:05.16) and Kristina Bratton was second (2:05.29), Teteris and Schmidt also advanced from the first heat.
Runners in heat two of the 800 (L-R) Melissa DeLeon, Elizabeth Rocks, Beth Heimann, Tyrona Heath, Sheena Gooding and Sara Pardue break for the poll.
Pardue, Rocks, Gooding and Heimann run up front.
Tyrona Heath (Georgetown) wins a close race over Melissa DeLeon (Florida), 2:07.59 to 2:07.87, Sheena Gooding (Austin Peay, 2:08.04) did not advance.
Lanie Millar of Baylor and Janine Jones of Pittsburgh lead heat three of the 800.
Kenia Sinclair of Seton Hall leads, followed by Jones, Millar and Nikeya Green.
Lenka Kalabova of Iowa State won (2:07.01), followed by Nikeya Green of Wake Forest (2:07.21). Kenia Sinclair (3rd, 2:07.28) and Janine Jones (4th, 2:07.65) did not advance.
Heat one of two in the women's mile, L-R: Erin Sicher, Valentina Medina, Erin Merten, Courtney Inman, Shalane Flanagan and Lena Nilsson.
Flanagan leads, Merten, Medina, Inman and Katie Jazwinski follow on the outside.
With one lap to go, Shalane Flanagan leads with UCLA's Ida Nilsson (1st, 4:43.16) and Erin Donohue right behind.
Flanagan and Donohue went 2-3 in 4:43.42 and 4:43.95, both advancing. Katie Eisenmenger of Kansas also advanced from heat one.
Heat two of the women's mile, L-R: Lauren King, Katie Yemm, Sara Gorton, Christin Wurth, Jill Laurendeau, Malindi Elmore and Roisin McGettigan.
Notre Dame's King, CU's Gorton and Stanford's Elmore run up front with the rest of the field close behind.
King, Liberty's Heather Sagan, Elmore, McGettigan and Gorton begin to kick.
All of the runners in this photo, except Lauren King of Notre Dame who missed by .07, advanced to the final. Heather Sagan won in 4:44.28.
The 5,000 final gets underway with NC State's Kristin Price and Boston College's Maria Cicero leading.
Arizona's Tara Chaplin moves to the front with Cicero and Georgia Tech's Renee Metivier, a tight pack follows.
