Consolidation of health services by the District Health Board in 1993, led to the transfer of maternity and acute-care services from the Holy Family to the Victoria Hospital. During its 28 years of service, the maternity ward assisted in the birth of 29,774 babies.
The Holy Family Hospital will continue to provide ambulatory care, long-term care and medical services to its residents until these services are moved to the Victoria Hospital and the new Mont St. Joseph Home by the Fall of 1997.
In accordance with the terms of an amalgamation agreement between the Sisters of Charity and the Health Board, control of the Holy Family Hospital will be turned over to the Health District October 1, 1997.
