Milano City Marathon 2002 - Dec 1, 2002
Sound track: Albinoni, Adagio in G minore

A new logo and a new medal for this year's edition.

The organizer is a sports newspaper that uses pink
pages... all it does or sponsorises has to be pink...

I had planned to run this marathon with Carlo, a blind
friend... but one of his knees wasn't working... we had to
be satisfied with a 10km few days before the big one.

Carlo's kids, Guglielmo & Valentina, were our fans...

In the downtown arena was organized
the changing area...

I always like to check were the line ups are...

Sometimes I can even find good friends in the queue...

This is Paolo, the very same that 4 years ago
got me involved in my first marathon: Ravenna 1999.
This was his 22nd marathon of the year...

Paolo, like all good Italians... does
nothing without an espresso in the morning...
Even a street vendor will have an espresso machine.

Everything was pink...
almost like a gay pride day... ;-)

The arrow points to the start...
but the people go the other way ???

Some creative artist has transformed
traffic stopper cement blocks in penguins :-)

I have seen this picture before...
and it was at the New York Marathon...
where they use a large number of motorcycles...

Stretching at the Castle...

The Starting Cannon...

More pink...

A view of the finish line...

Access gate to the Start Line...

Group stretching...

The runners are ready...

Past the start line you can see
the smoke of the cannon... and we are off.

The run is on...

One of the finishers... never give for
granted a marathon... this time 3:38...

I always wondered what I would look like in pink...
now I know... ;-)

A nice walk after the marathon ending up
in the romantic "naviglio" closed the day...
