Stephen's Trip to Penticton (BC) for IronMan 2002 - (Part 1)
Sound track: Stravinsky, Symphony of Psalms, 1st Movement
Serenelli's Gipsy Caravan (Mobile Office)...
or as Roy called it the Wheeled Cabin...
is on the move again...
This time is to participate to the
Penticton IronMan Triathalon Race.
After passing again from Drumhellar...
with the feeling of being in...
an old Spaghetti Western.
and Banff (just like somewhere in Switzerland).
I entered in British Columbia via Roger's Pass.
The arches monument commemorates the
completion of the Trans Canada highway...
over 4,000 miles in length
To meet the monster of my dreams...
Penticton beach... where on Sunday I will have to swim
the famous 3.8 km or 2.4 miles... I think I will stick
to miles... it sounds a shorter effort ;-)
Penticton has Mediterranean climate in the summer...
as this fruit tree confirms...
This IronMan race is a big event for Penticton...
2,200 athletes (or wanna be...) plus their
supporters (2/3,000) and volunteers (4,000) are
landing in this city the size of PA
(31,000 residents).
Penticton is pretty and full of entertainment,
restaurants, bike shops and murals...
For today in program was a short 5km
fun run for kids and adults that are
too scared of the real thing... ;-)
To entertain the participant a little
village is available close to the start
line with displays, sales or gadgets
and live music.
Well guys this is all for today...
I need proper rest now...
bye for now
Stephen :-)
