The next view the press truck gets of the race is between three and four miles. Dryer is still leading...
...but Kate O'Neill has caught the chase pack and is running in second place.
Heading over the Harvard Bridge, back into Boston, Elva Dryer holds a seemingly...
...insurmountable lead. Dryer represented the U.S. in the 10,000m at the World Track and Field...
...Championships in Paris this summer. She qualified by finishing second to last year's Tufts 10k winner...
...Marla Runyan, at the USA T&F Championships.
Dryer set a 10,000m PR of 31:28.88 in May.
Dryer is one of the best U.S. women who is not training for a marathon right now.
Dryer had about a 25-second lead on Kate O'Neill at this point.
Dryer went on to win the USA 10k title in 32:34.
Kate O'Neill, a 2003 Yale graduate who just finalized her Nike contract days earlier...
...had an excellent race to finish second in 33:02. It continued a streak of excellent runner-up finishes...
...for O'Neill. She finished second in three NCAA championship races her senior year of college.
Jenny Crain of Eugene, Oregon, and Wisconsin Runner finished third in 33:16.
Laura O'Neill (Kate's twin) also had an excellent race to finish fourth in 33:21.
