The first lap of the high school girls' mile.
The field included five 2002 Foot Locker Finalists.
Nicole Blood of Saratoga Springs, NY moves into the lead.
Blood won the New Balance Games mile at the Armory two weeks earlier.

Blood, a ninth grader, continues to lead.
Jennifer Boyd, Ari Lambie and the Trotter sisters follow.
Blood leads, but Lambie and Katy Trotter stay within striking distance.

On the seventh lap (of 11), Lambie makes a move for the lead.
Meghan Owen of CT runs in fourth place.

Elizabeth Maloy of NY runs in sixth place.
Bay Shore (NY) High School's Laura Cummings.
Lambie continues to lead but doesn't pull away.
Owen continues to run in fourth, she's followed by Maloy and A. Trotter, who lost her left shoe early in the race.
Laura Cummings, the fourth-place finisher at the 2002 Foot Locker XC Championships, wound up ninth in 5:09.42.
On the 10th lap (with about 1.5 laps to go), Nicole Blood is back in the lead.
Blood puts a little distance on Lambie and K. Trotter.
