had gone unchallenged in Eastern Mass and Laakso had gone unchallenged
in Central Mass.

past the two-mile mark, Donaldson began to put some distance on
Laakso.

Lincoln-Sudbury's
Donaldson, a former soccer player, was running her first season
of cross country.

She
was not new to running though, she's also a state champion in track.

Laakso, another soccer player turned runner, runs in second place.

Amherst's
Amber Sayer runs in third place just past the two-mile mark.

Donaldson
cruised to the finish in 18:46 on the hilly, slow Northfield Mountain
course.

Laakso
hung on to second place, finishing in 19:11.

This
was Laakso's first season of cross country as well.

Amherst's
Spring Greeney entered the home stretch in third, but finished fourth
in 19:24.

After
battling pneumonia for two weeks, Amber Sayer gamely held on here
to finish fifth in 19:36.

Amanda
Rinderle (7th, 19:44) helped Amherst to its second-straight DI
title with a score of 39 points.
