Just before the mile mark, Arizona's Tara Chaplin leads the race.
The race was a rare opportunity for Chaplin to compete (relatively) near her hometown of Montpelier, VT.
Purdue freshman Lindsay Zinn and Arizona sophomore Beth Hoge follow close behind.
Erin Doherty and Vermont's Michele Palmer.
Only a sophomore, Palmer has been competitive with New England's best this season.

Vermont freshman Tessa Auwarter leads a pack including Janeen Shepard (#233) and Kim Heiligman (#165).
Holy Cross freshman Corrine Butova.
Tara Chaplin won comfortably in 16:52. The last time this race went under 17:00 was when Chaplin's former teammate Amy Skieresz won in 1997.
Beth Hoge finished 2nd in 17:17.
Erin Doherty finished 3rd in 17:28.
Lindsay Zinn finished 4th in 17:31.
Michele Palmer finished 5th in 17:41.
Kim Bates secured the team win for Arizona as their fifth scorer, finishing 7th in 18:00.
Nicole Gurnicz finished 8th in 18:03.
