Asmae Leghzaoui, who's been hot this summer, was on world-record pace (sub 14:54) through 4k...
...but struggled at the end. When she realized she wasn't going to get the record, she slowed dramatically...
...and won in 15:06, under the old course record of 15:10, held by Elana Meyer...
...Who finished second in 15:24.
Meyer was quite pleased with her run and will next compete at the Nike Women's 10k in London.
Though this was a USA Championship race for men, it was not for women, but Libbie Hickman was the top American nonetheless...
...finishing third among women in 16:02.
Elva Dryer followed closely in fourth (16:03).
Providence College graduate Marie McMahon Davenport had a lot of support along the course...
...and finished fifth in 16:04.
Tatiana Khmeleva (7th, 16:13) and Martha Komu 6th, 16:11).

Uta Pippig placed 8th in 16:18.
