Rebecca Walker of Michigan, the top freshman in the race, led her team to victory with a fifth-place, 17:47.8 finish.
Indiana's Audrey Giesler (6th, 17:49.3) edged out Michigan's Lindsey Gallo (7th, 17:49.4).
Sarah Pepera finished eighth, and third for her team, in 17:50.9.
Rachel Evjen of Northwestern (9th, 17:51.9) leads Tracey Brauksieck (10th, 17:52.7).
Indiana's Jessica Gall finished 11th in 17:58.9.
Wisconsin's Jackie Mulrooney finished 12th in 18:01.7.q
Katy Hillard of Penn State (13th, 18:05.3) edged out Becky Obrecht of Indiana (14th, 18:05.5).
Mindy Peterson of Indiana finished 15th in 18:06.3.
The Michigan women scored a narrow win over Michigan State, 70 to 73.
