Carrie Tollefson takes over the lead in the 1,500m.
Tollefson begins to pull away from the field...
...but Carmen Douma managed to chase her down and win 4:11.71 to 4:12.00.
Shalane Flanagan (4th, 4:13.55) and Sally Hauser (5th, 4:13.66).
Flanagan will next compete at the USA Cross Country Championships in Indianapolis.
Miesha Marzell-Arnold finished 11th in 4:20.78.
The 5,000m race featured two Russian pacesetters...
...four Ethiopians...
...and one Brit.
Kathy Butler is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and still trains in the U.S.
Lirisa Michaileva (right) and Lyubov Kremleva set the pace for a world record attempt.
As the only runner in the race not going after the World Record, Butler got caught in no-(wo)man's land.
Derartu Tulu leads her 18-year-old cousin Tirunesh Dibaba, Meseret Defar and Sentayehu Ejigu.
Butler runs on her own.
Defar leads Ejigu.
Tulu is a two-time Olympic gold medalist at 10,000m.
Dibaba sets the pace.
Defar moves up on Dibaba's shoulder...
...and into the lead. The world record had gotten tougher earlier in the day...
...with Berhane Adere setting a new record of 14:39.29 in Stuttgart.
The record was not to be, but it was an exciting four-woman race with Defar using a furious last-lap...
...sprint to win in 14:53.14 over Dibaba (14:53.99), Tulu (14:54.73) and Ejigu (14:58.85).
Kathy Butler finished fifth in 15:41.13.
The crowd goes wild as Defar sprints to the finish.
Ejigu and Dibaba do a victory lap.
