Heading around the field for the final time, suddenly there was a great race for second place.
Mary Cullen continued to hang on to second place, and her teammate, Fiona Crombie, was battling for third.
Cullen managed to hold off Crombie and Pittsburgh's Maureen McCandless. She finished second...

McCandless had a great race to finish third in 20:11.
Crombie finished fourth in 20:11, giving Providence three of the top four spots.
Molly Huddle finished fifth in 20:16, but only six second out of second place.
Huddle led her Notre Dame team to a runner-up finish.
Two weeks later, her coaches held her out of the regional meet with a sore foot.
Villanova's Marina Muncan finished sixth in 20:27.
