MensRacing.com: How do you feel about your race?
Ryan Deak:
I felt great. I ran as hard as I could, I got everything out of my body that I could today. That's all you can ask for, just coming out here and [giving it] all you can. I gave it all I had.

MR: Reflecting on your season, how do you feel about it as a whole?
RD:
I had a great season, it couldn't have gone any better, the only way it could have gone better would be if I had won today. I'm very satisfied with my sixth-place finish today, I gave it all I had.

MR: What has it been like, running for a different school and different region this year?
RD:
It's been a lot different, but it has had a positive influence on my life. Everything has gone the way I wanted to and everything, it's worked out perfectly.

MR: Has it been hard socially adjusting to a new school as a senior?
RD:
Not at all, not at all. It's a great school, it's a great atmosphere.

MR: You've decided to go to [the University of Colorado], so you're glad that you made that move?
RD:
Yes, I'm going to CU next year...

MR: Were you considering other schools for a while in there? What was that all about?
RD:
Yeah, for a while I was, but then I took my CU visit and I was like, 'This is the place I'm going.' Everything just worked perfectly.

MR: Can you tell us about the decision to move to Colorado, was that pretty much based on your running?
RD:
Yes, it was based on running.

MR: And you parents were happy to go along with that?
RD:
Yes, they're willing to do whatever it takes.

MR: Do you have siblings?
RD:
I have an older brother, he stayed in Florida with his girlfriend...

MR: What was your training like this season? Was it very different having a new coach and everything?
RD:
No, my coach (Greg Weich) is a really good guy. We just sat down and talked about what I had done in the past and what I should do in the future, so everything worked out perfectly.

MR: Has it helped having two teammates (Morgan Schulz and Katelyn Kaltenbach) here with you?
RD:
Yes, it definitely has. It's my second time back here, so it's a great experience just coming here and just hanging out with people who have sacrificed the same things you have to [get here].

MR: Did you get to watch Katelyn win before you ran your race?
RD:
Yes, I did watch Katelyn win, so it was an inspiration to me...
