Ricky Quintana: How did the race go for you?
Ramsey Kavan:
Good. I felt good pretty much the whole way. Those uphills were pretty hard. I just tried to take the downhills as hard as I could, but I got pulled away from on the down hills. I felt good on the flats and tried to run my best race and run the way I felt, so I'm happy.

RQ: You had a lot of Midwest teammates around you.
RK:
Yeah, I'm really excited to see all [my teammates] up there with me. I'm really happy for them.

RQ: Did you expect this kind of performance today, to finish in the top five, top seven? [Note: Kavan finished sixth]
RK:
That was my goal, so I'm really happy. I wasn't sure what to expect at Foot Locker and I'm not exactly used to running in the hot weather, but I had fun.

RQ: What have you been doing prior to this race? Have you always been a runner?
RK:
I've been running for about three years. I got 34th at the Midwest Regional last year and this year, I got second, so I've kind of made a big improvement between them.

RQ: What do you attribute the improvement to?
RK:
I just really want to thank my coach and especially my teammates for being there to train with me. Especially, Matt on my team for training with me.

RQ: Does this open a whole new world for you?
RK:
Yeah, I'm just looking forward to next year. It's going to be really fun.

RQ: What are the things that got you here, going for 34th to second at your region?
RK:
I train my hardest all the time. I changed my lifestyle. I made it so that I always had my goals in mind and kept my focus.

RQ: What will you take away from this whole experience this year?
RK:
Well, I'll take away a lot of friends that I made this year. I'll take away the feeling that you get with being with people that have the same hobby and love the same thing that you do.
