Ricky Quintana: What can you say about this race?
Katie Harrington:
I'm really excited with how everything unfolded. It was great, a lot better than last year. I came in with a little higher expectations. I'm a little more prepared and I'm just really happy with how things turned out.

RQ: Did the injury that you had play with your mind this season?
KH:
A little bit. Because, of course, I was always thinking where I could be with all that summer base training, but it really helped me focus on my long-term goals rather than intermediate [ones]. It just really helped me to focus on what I wanted to accomplish and not let anything get in my way.

RQ: This is better than you did last year, right?
KH:
Yeah, it was. I think it helps that I had the experience of last year. It helps that I knew a lot more people. We're all friends and it kind of takes all of the edge off.

RQ: What were you doing with all that time off?
KH:
What cross training? I did a lot of lap swimming and cycling. I kind of became a triathlete, you could say, minus the running...

RQ: Is that injury behind you?
KH:
Yup. I just had my plica band removed... I had surgery on my other leg in the eighth grade, so I'm plica-free. Never again will it bother me.

RQ: What do you expect for the track season?
KH:
I'm going to let my legs do the talking, but I'm excited about it. That's all I really want to say about that (laughs).
