After finishing second in 2000, Tim Ross won the Michigan Lower Peninsula Division II State Meet in 2001, running the fastest time of the day with a 15:03. Tim Moore, who would go on to win the Foot Locker Midwest Regional, won the Division I race 15:11, but the two stars were unable to race head-to-head because they run in separate divisions.
