Sam Romanoski has continued to improve dramatically each year of young running career, and this year was no exception. After finishing 17th at the Illinois State Cross Country Meet one year ago, he finished second this year, barely missing the title. Micah VanDenend took the lead for good in the final 400 meters after Romanoski had led for much of the race. Whether or not he was looking for it, Romanoski got his revenge at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional as he grabbed the eighth and final qualifying spot for the National Finals. VanDenend finished 32nd.
