Marc Pelerin proved
himself as New Jersey's best when he won the Meet of Champions November
17. One week later he made up for the disappointment of one year ago -
when Peter Meindl edged him out for the eighth and final qualifying spot
at the Northeast Regional [see
photo] - by finishing sixth and earning his first trip to the National
Finals. Pelerin told the Burlington County Times after the regional,
""There's no (Dathan) Ritzenhein this year, so I'm going down there
to win. Yeah, there's some good guys, but I could steal it if it's my
day. I don't expect to lose."
Other
Notes:
...Pelerin finished third in the Foot Locker Northeast Sophomore Race
in 1999, one spot behind fellow '01 qualifier Ben Stern...
