Wisconsin's Jackie Mulrooney edged out Kansas freshman Mallory Champa by one second for the final qualifying spot at the Foot Locker Midwest Regional. She finished fifth at the Wisconsin State Cross Country Meet in late October. Prior to that, she was undefeated.

Mulrooney finished 16th out of 17 competitors at last spring's Wisconsin State Track Meet in the 3,200 after suffering from an iron deficiency.
