Brittany Tinsley, a senior at Indian Lake High School in Russells Point, Ohio, finished fifth at the 2004 Foot Locker Cross Country Championships in 17:49. She qualified for nationals by placing third at the Midwest Regional two weeks earlier.

Fast-Women.com: Tell me a little bit about the race?
Brittany Tinsley:
It was definitely tough. It went out really fast. There were a lot of people grouped together which I'm not really used to.

FW: Did it surprise you that you were up there?
BT:
Yeah, I was pretty surprised how I moved up there. I kept going back and forth between third and seventh. It wasn't too bad.

FW: Coming in, did you have expectations of doing this well?
BT:
I didn't really know. I was shooting for top 10.

FW: Getting here and doing so well — how do you feel right now?
BT:
I'm so excited. It was the greatest race of my life. It's a great way to end my senior year.

FW: Where are you looking at going to school?
BT:
NC State, Arkansas, and Michigan State are just a few. I haven't really narrowed it down yet.
