With one lap to go, Flanagan was still out front, Fleshman continued to run in second, and Rudolph was in third.
Flanagan won her first U.S. national title on the track in 15:10.96 and qualified for the World Championship team. Lauren Fleshman finished second in 15:16.80 and will be on the team if she can get the "A" standard within the qualifying window.
Sara Bei, now running for Asics, finished a solid sixth in 15:24.74 in her first race as a professional runner.
Amy Rudolph (congratulating Shalane Flanagan) finished third in 15:18.92 and qualified for the World Championship team (like Flanagan, she already has the "A" standard).
After just three heats of the 400 hurdles, Carrie Tollefson (right) was back in action in the 1,500 prelims. She didn't make the team in the 5,000 (she was fifth in 15:24.13) so she was back to give it another try, without much rest.
