Jones, a native of Texas, has one year of high school remaining. She was running three events at this meet, but she showed her endurance last year by running a 1:21:34 half marathon as a sophomore.

Oklahoma State's Anissa Angelosante finished fourth 18:17.18. The girls' races tended to have smaller fields here, with only seven running the 5,000 and five in the steeplechase.
