Kastor fell just shy of the record, running 25:05 but winning the USA 8K title. One week later, Kastor destroyed the 8K record, running 24:36 in Chicago. Jen Rhines had put some distance on her competitors by the 5K mark (through which she passed in 16:06)... ...and she held on to that lead through the finish line. Rhines finished second in 25:54.
