Lawrence led the pack as she, Dron, and Canty separated themselves from the field in the late stages of the race. The race came down to a kick between Lawrence and Canty. Lawrence was first across the line in 9:44.85 with Canty second in 9:45.91. VanLeuven came back to grab third. Amy Yoder Begley led early on in the women's 5,000 final. Shalane Flanagan ran in second place early on, and then moved up on Yoder Begley's shoulder.
